About Cristi Frye

I am a self-taught polymer clay and mixed media artist who specializes in figurative sculpture. I don’t have formal training in art or sculpting.  I’m simply figuring it out as I go.  What started as a side project has turned into a creative adventure, and I’ve been enjoying every moment of it.

Before sculpting, I earned a degree in Elementary Education, worked as a kindergarten teacher, and later joined a nonprofit organization. But my most meaningful and fulfilling role began when I became a mother. I’ve spent the past 22 years raising three wonderful, very busy kids. Two are technically adults now. Between soccer, theater, basketball, volleyball, and martial arts, I have always been their biggest fan. They are, without question, my greatest contribution to the world.

Throughout my kids’ school years, and even now, I’ve spent a lot of time volunteering for parent-led school organizations like PTO and booster clubs. I have helped organize events and handle behind-the-scenes tasks that keep things running smoothly.

I also share my home with a lively crew of animals, including a dog, three cats, three goats, and three potbellied pigs.  They don’t always seem to understand that I’m supposed to be in charge.  Maybe I’m not!

And now, somehow, I sculpt.  It happened by accident, really.  In late 2018, I sat down to make Christmas ornaments with polymer clay and ended up creating a Santa face. But that Santa turned into an old woman that I now call Florence.  She was the first of many, and the start of something that brings me tremendous joy.

Thank you for visiting my site and joining me on this journey.  If you would like to see what’s available, check out the Sculpture Store or reach out if you’re interested in a commission.  I’m so glad you’re here.
